WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT
Honestly, it's summed up perfectly above. I'm a girly girl to the core of my being, and I love all things beauty, fashion, makeup, glitter, shiny, sparkly, etc. I love being a woman and I fully embrace and revel in it. This site is a place for me to express my girliness and discuss the things I love with all of you out there like me. Even if you’re not quite as girly as I am, I’m sure you’ll be able to relate on some, if not much of what goes on here.
My husband often describes me as Tinker Bell or a Disney Princess, and while I somewhat see the point in his oh so eloquent and pithy branding, I just take it to mean that he couldn't be happier lol. I can work with that! That makes perfect sense to me! You'll see many of his antics on my YouTube channel too as he makes quite a few appearances over there. I originally started my channel to use the unique advantage of video to share what I love with the world, and what better platform than YouTube?! I don’t know about you, but I turn to YouTube for all kinds of things. From makeup tutorials to home improvement to "what is that noise my stupid humidifier is making?" YouTube is a virtual abyss of information. That’s why when I started this adventure, I knew this was turning to video QUICKLY.
Fortunately, I love being in front of the camera. I have been lucky enough to be on some movie sets, shows, and commercials, so it wasn't that giant of a leap out of my comfort zone to sit alone talking into a camera, and so far I'm loving it!! So much so that since I started my channel, I have put the vast majority of my time into filming and editing. Naturally, this has slowed me a bit on the expansion of this website, but I have in no way abandoned it and thoroughly intend on pursuing my vision of making this site a fully interactive forum for all the topics covered on its pages. You will see that there is a comment box on virtually every page of this site, and I SO encourage all of you to leave comments, ask questions, and talk with not only me, but each other as well.
Currently, I am nearing the end of my road to becoming a lawyer, and while it's definitely very exciting, fashion, beauty, and makeup are really where my heart is. If that is not already blatantly obvious, I'm sure you will be able to tell just how true that is as you binge my videos and browse this site.
As a general rule, I would describe myself as a very upbeat, positive, happy, and "glowy” person, as my husband says. However, I do discuss some topics covering the less glamorous areas of being a woman. The heaviest of which, at least for me, is domestic violence. I know it’s not just a woman's issue as men are victims too, but it is undeniably more common among women. Unfortunately, I was a victim of this horrible epidemic for over a decade at the hands of one abuser, my ex-husband. Like so many women, I didn't leave him when the abuse started. Looking back, it doesn't make sense at all, and now that I'm in a loving relationship, I barely recognize the woman I was. At the time, my prison was all I knew. Sadly, I'm sure some of you can relate. This is why I share my story on my YouTube channel. My goal is to spread awareness and hopefully help those of you that have suffered through similar situations. If you haven't, but you know someone who has, please share my information with them. I want everyone to know that I am here for all victims as a shoulder to cry on, be someone to talk to that can understand and who knows what you're going through, or even just a sounding board if you want to talk/vent about it. WHAT MAKES MY CHANNEL DIFFERENT?
To finish on a positive note, let me tell you what makes my channel different. The answer to that is DETAIL. I love quite a few of the beauty YouTubers out there but something was always missing for me. At the end of the video, I would always find myself with so many unanswered questions. I wanted to know more! That’s when I decided that this would be my little niche in the market. When I sit down to film, my intention is to be as detailed and thorough as possible every single time. I don’t want my audience to have more questions than answers at the end of my videos. As a result, this does result in my videos being a little longer than others, but if you’re looking for detail, you came to the right place! Don't worry though, if you want to get in and get out, I put time stamps in the description bar so you can jump to the part you really want to see.
I also reduce the number of cuts in my videos to the bare minimum. I do this because there is so much dishonesty in the beauty community. Well, that is my opinion I suppose, but I think the evidence speaks for itself. I don't want you to think anything shady is going on, that I'm bought and paid for, or that I'm deceiving you in any way. I want you to see the palette when I dip my brush in it, I want to be consistent in the amount of pressure I use when I swatch, I want to compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges, and I want to leave you feeling like you can trust me, because I assure you, YOU CAN. My integrity is not for sale.
Another big difference with my channel is COMMUNITY! I love our Fawnsquad! You have got to join and be a part of this loving and supportive group of people. I really can't tell you how wonderful they all are. We have a Facebook page you can jump to from the link in the footer of any page of this site. Everyone tosses ideas around, shares pictures, personal stories, laughs together, and even cries together. I love my fawns so much and I honestly don’t know where I’d be without them. They have truly changed my life.
Another difference HIIIIIIIIGHLIIIIIIIIGHT! lol I do NOT shy around highlight. I haven't found another YouTuber that loves it like I do. I'm sure they exist. I'm just saying that if you love it too, you'll love my attention to highlight. If you want to glow, you know where to go! You’re going to be blinding traffic before you know it! "Subtle" and "natural" aren't really my thing. I don’t do much of that. Not that there is anything wrong with it though, it's just not for me. I like full coverage glam. Full disclosure! Lol I do take requests and try my hardest to meet them timely, so please don’t be afraid to fire away if there's something you want to see.
Lastly, while my YouTube channel and website are FAR more about makeup and beauty than anything else, it’s not solely about beauty. Like I said, I talk about the less glamorous topics of being a woman too, but I also have recipes on my site; internal health tips involving vitamins, diet, etc; exercise routines and tips; fashion dos and don'ts (something I intend to get into heavily in 2021 if my health will allow my full return); medications and treatments I've tried/learned about over the years for the problems I suffer from like rheumatoid arthritis and migraines; the latest online sale updates and discount codes from your favorite stores (Obviously if I know about them, but I love to share anything that could benefit you guys); deep dives into my personal life (often leaving TMI in the rear view but 🤷♀️🤪); and much much more. I already have a ton more topics in mind that I want to cover too! Eek! There's not enough time!!
